Improve your Home, Improve your Life
Well-Being in your Utah Home — Part One
The Truth about Hospitals
Have you ever been inside a hospital? Was it a pleasant experience? Is there anything that could have made it better? These are questions being researched by two professors at USC. In an article recently published in the Harvard Business Review, we see that better designed hospitals do indeed lead to faster healing. When hospital rooms have windows where patients can see outside, plants in the lobby, or designated spaces like an atrium where patients and staff can relax, there is shown to be noticeably reduced pain, fewer infections, and shorter hospital stays for patients.
Dave studied this phenomenon while getting his Master’s Degree in Construction Management at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Your well-being is at the forefront of his mind.
Your Well-Being Matters
But what does hospital design have to do with you and your home? According to the American Time Use Survey, Americans spend an average of 10 waking hours a day in their home (not counting sleeping!). With so much time being spent at home, shouldn’t our homes be designed to promote our health and optimize our living? The same consideration that is going into hospital design to improve healing should be done in our own homes to improve our everyday lives. Rather than settling and adjusting our lifestyles to fit the home, we should be adjusting our home to fit our needs. When we build or remodel a home with your well-being in mind, we can optimize things like layout, storage, durability, and access to nature in order to serve your needs in the best possible way.
